What's Danyasa Eco-Retreat all about?

We offer an ecologically friendly retreat space and a sanctuary for exploration and transformation through yoga, surf, play, movement, healing arts, relaxation, adventure, community and a connection to nature. To provide top notch teacher trainings, workshops, private sessions, classes, tours, events events in Costa Rica! To explore myriad ways to better ourselves... giving us more tools to move through the world, living artfully.

How do we get to Dominical?

Getting to Danyasa Eco-Retreat is easy. If renting a car, you can follow the directions and map below to find us. Allow 3 hours to arrive in Dominical from the airport in San Jose. We do highly recommend renting a GPS with your vehicle, as most streets in Costa Rica do not have signs or even names!

Shared-ride shuttles provide another option for getting to us. Sit back and watch the scenery and leave the driving to the pros. Shared-ride shuttles usually leave from the Juan Santamaria International Airport and generally cost around $55 each way. The shuttles take about 3-4 hours. We would be happy to assist you in booking a shared-ride shuttle. Contact info@danyasa.com.

Private shuttles from San Jose airport or the city cost $175 and take about 3 hours. We would be happy to assist you in booking a private shuttle. Contact info@danyasa.com.

One can also take a 20-minute airplane flight from San Jose to Quepos and then take a taxi or rent a car to drive the remaining 30 minutes south to Dominical.

And lastly, public buses can take you from downtown San Jose right to our doorstep. The buses leave from the TRACOPA bus terminal https://www.tracopacr.com/. You will have to buy a ticket to Uvita, but you can get off at Dominical. There are two direct buses each day. Each bus stops briefly at Orotina and Quepos before arriving at Dominical. The buses leave at 6am and 3pm and take about 5 hours to get to Dominical.

How do we find you in Dominical?

We are located on the main street in Dominical, across from the public school. Look for the Danyasa Eco-Retreat sign on the right-hand side heading towards the beach. If the boutique is closed, there is an intercom on the sign post.

What's special about Dominical?

The quaint beach town of Dominical lies on the northern border of the Osa Peninsula, considered the most bio-diverse place on Earth by the National Geographic Society and the United Nations. Dominical and the surrounding areas boast world class surf, lush jungled covered mountains that soar from the sea, an abundance of exciting adventure opportunities and a host of spectacular natural attractions ranging from waterfalls to sea caves to hidden beaches and more!

Do you offer meals?

Delicious organic breakfast is included in your reservation. In the town of Dominical there is a great health food store, numerous groceries, fruit stands and a variety of restaurants all within easy walking distance. There are also a number of other amenities in Dominical, such as banks, pharmacies and supermarkets. Most everything you need can be easily gotten in just a quick walk from Danyasa.

Where do the yoga classes happen?

The internationally renown open air Bamboo Yoga Play studio represents the heart and soul of Danyasa Eco-Retreat. With beauitful bamboo floors, a state of the art sound system and world class teachers in yoga, dance and other movement modalities, we take great pride in offering a top notch experience for our guests. Costa Rica Journeys rated Bamboo Yoga Play the #2 of the top 10 places to do yoga and retreats in Costa Rica. Costa Rica Yoga Retreats ranked us #3 of the top 10 retreats and calls us "one of the best destinations" in Costa Rica. More than a few people, including teachers, have told us that Bamboo Yoga Play is the most beautiful studio they have practiced or taught in.

Do you host other retreats?

Is the tap water ok to drink?

Yes, all the water on-site at Danyasa is filtered and excellent quality. The water in Dominical in general comes from the municipal water supply and is treated and good to drink.

Do you have internet?

Yes, we offer free high speed Wifi throughout our property. We are actually quite proud of internet system and we believe it to be better than just about anywhere you might stay in Costa Rica.

Do you have smoking rooms?

No, all our rooms and our entire facility are a no-smoking enviroment. Please don't smoke anywhere on the Danyasa grounds.

I'm a beginner surfer and yogi. Will the classes be suitable for me?

Yes, all our classes are tailored to meet the needs of all levels of students and practitioners. Don't worry if you've never tried it before, we'll make sure and guide you gracefully.

Is it safe for a solo traveler?

Costa Rica is considered one of the best and safest places for a solo traveler to visit. Although petty theft can happen and one should always be smart about leaving values unattended, violence is very rare. And Danyasa is an extra safe-haven in an already safe country. We get many solo travelers. Rest assured you will be well cared for here and there is a good chance you will make new friends here if you want to.
